Tired of those boring “grip-and-grin” photo shots? Spice up your periodical or Web site with photos that attract attention and build interest:
- Angle Shots. Shoot your subject in an unusual position or angle.
- Demo Shots. Shoot employees or members operating a machine or performing some compelling task.
- Facial Shots. Shoot close-ups depicting genuine emotion.
- Framed Shots. Frame your subject inside of a natural border, such as the middle of an array of equipment or in the center of a colorful corridor.
- Heart Shots. Portray deep human interest by shooting your subject in a warm scene. Two scenes that usually work (don’t laugh): subject with a baby, or with a dog.
- Juxtaposition Shots. Shoot your subject against a contrasting or deliberately jarring background.
- Movement Shots. Portray action by capturing the subject working or moving with speed. Don’t be afraid to deliberately blur the shot.
- Sequence Shots. Shoot a series of photos showing animation. For example: the first shot might show your subject smiling, the second might show her gesturing, while the third might show her pointing.
